Today's Parenting Challenge...

Ok, here's the problem. We have tickets for the matinee of the Adams Family this Saturday.
My regular babysitter had her work schedule changed out from under her and can't sit after all.

So, I either need a sitter from noon to about six or somebody to take my ticket off my hands.

Any suggestions?

Mostly for future reference.
You do not want to have only one baby sitter available for just this reason. It does require a higher level of trust when your child is not yet speaking. 3 levels of contingency will usually cover. Rather young teens might handle it, if you make sure to carry a cell phone. (Somehow nobody has officially put 2+2 together on that -- Less responsibility is required if the parent is always reachable.)

Potential near-emergency baby sitters include friends or neighbors with children, and relatives that don't live too far away. Calling in a favor "Just this once" of a competent person who doesn't normally care to sit could be an option.

Any help?

I know what that is like. I would even pass on the names on my list, but I also needed one for Sat. and all of mine are busy, and that is with having 5 on a list.
