Minimeme

I can only think of a few things I have done that nobody else in this crowd is likely to havw done.

1) Stood up as Best Man at my second husband's first wedding.
2) packed a bag with $220,000.00 in cash. (Sadly, it wasn't mine.)
3) Slung a psychronometer in the rain (98.3% humidity).
4) Worked in the same location for 15 years for three different companies.

Ghod! I'm ordinary.

OK, what the heck is a "psychronometer"?

It's an instrument used to measure the relative humidity. It has two thermometers on a stick that has a handle ans a pivot connection. One thermometer is plain ans the other has a piece of cloth over the bulb. You wet the cloth and swing the thing vigorously. The cloth dries and the thermometer measures the evaporative cooling. You compare the two temps and can then calculate the relative humidity. You feel pretty silly slinging the thing in the pouring rain. Except, once the rain starts to fall, the air is no longer saturated.

OK, I've seen that gadget, and maybe even taken a reading with it, but not in the rain. I can't remember what name it was called by when I encountered it, but it wasn't 'psychronometer'.

The banking industry and the computing industry are quite different beasts. I worked for ANS, UUnet and WorldCom in the same building
(and largely at the same desk) in 3.5 years. Some of the folks who started earlier also worked for AOL, those who lasted through more layoffs made to MCI. And of course, MCI is getting bought in the next few weeks. But that breaks the 'one place' rule, as the facility we worked in was closed. Steve Macdonald made UUnet/WorldCom/MCI in that building tto, before it closed.

Marty's right, you definately should have put the costume on the list.

Wow, I, too, had a female best man (folkmew) at my wedding. But I do not expect her to become my next wife. :-)

You are the only person I know who has made a goat mascot costume for a university that doesn't exactly exist...
