Every Day is a New Adventure

Every time we do an album I learn stuff.

This time I am learning a great deal about the board. I don't know what up-grade or new piece of equipment in the chain is doing it, but most of what I had previously known about record settings is now wrong. I am learning and things yesterday went much better than the previous few days.

The big LESSON I'm getting out of this one, however, is that
SOMEBODY HAS TO BE IN CHARGE!
These things do not happen organically as much as we would like to imagine that they do.
And it isn't necessarily the person with the most knowledge or talent.
I guess it's the person who can see the whole picture.
I guess you have to have someone removed enough from the project to see it all at once.
I guess, this trip, it's me.

I apologize to my co-hort for not seeing it sooner.

*wryly* Or at least someone who really conceives of what all has to get done...it's not much use asking me what all we have to do, since I don't really have much of a concept of things like insert layout and mixing and stuff.

But we're getting there!

The Person In Charge is often called a Project Manager, and people who are really good at it sometimes get paid big bucks. I think it requires you to think in four or five dimensions at once.

Oh, another name for it is Mom. You'll see for yourself soon enough! :-D
