They Say Kids Learn Fast...

This past summer, blueeyedtigress visited us for a few days.
I made stirfry for dinner one evening, and Blade asked for chopsticks. Katie was facinated.
Since then she has been practicing, mostly on mac'n cheese.
Tonight I made stirfry. Katie asked for chopsticks.
She put away a whole bowl of the stuff with the chopsticks. Well, except for the broccoli.
Broccoli, it seems, is stinky and yuck.
But hooray for chopsticks.

On my first read through, I was so sure that Blade asked for cupcakes. Mac'n'cheese cupcakes! With cheese sauce frosting! Ack, no, no, no. I should eat dinner before reading LJ.

My kids still use the trainer tong chopsticks. It's amazing what they'll eat when given a cool method to eat by.

But I AM seriously impressed with Katie for managing to use real ones!

This is a good age for them to want to start on chopsticks. The Spousal Unit and I have amazed and flabbergasted Chinese coworkers by being so facile with them, despite our being Americans.

Katie is smart. She's already figured out that chopsticks are easy and broccoli is disgusting.

But broccoli is easiest eaten with chopsticks. & the "leafy tree" parts are pretty good with almost any sauce.

Our eldest has her own travel sticks (from REI), & our youngest wants some of her own. Perhaps her next birthday.

Broccoli stinky and yucky--that's my goddaughter!

(Uncle Jeff has a certain facility with chopsticks, too.)
